Georgia Crump Award 2025

MemoryCare Announces Recipient of the 2025 Georgia Crump Certified Nursing Assistant Award

Cindy McCurry, a certified nursing assistant with Givens Communities, was honored with MemoryCare’s Georgia Crump Certified Nursing Assistants Award in November at MAHEC. The award, including a plaque and monetary stipend, was established to honor nursing assistants for the heroic work they do every day. It has been presented annually since 2003. Nominations are solicited from hospitals, hospices, nursing care facilities and home health programs throughout western North Carolina. This award was named to honor Georgia Crump, LPN, in recognition of her passion and dedication for improving working conditions and educational opportunities for nursing assistants.

From the nomination form, submitted by Jessie Bosshard, Executive Director of Givens Home First:

“Cindy McCurry is, in every sense of the word, extraordinary. From the moment she walked into our
office in January 2023 asking if there might be a place for her on our team, she radiated warmth,
passion, and purpose. Her mother dedicated decades to Givens Communities, and Cindy carries that
same deep love for service every single day. As a Dementia Friend, Cindy is always seeking ways to strengthen her community. She stepped up in countless ways during Hurricane Helene, offering reassurance and help to clients and coworkers alike. But truthfully, she goes out of her way for others every single day. Simply put, Cindy embodies excellence, compassion, and dedication in every moment. She is a shining example of what this profession represents… heart, skill, and humanity in perfect harmony.”
